She may not know anything about losing Rachelle Lefevre as a Twilight castmate, but Nikki Reed has a pretty good idea why fans swoon for costar Robert Pattinson.
With news still fresh on Lefevre being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in Eclipse, the third film of the popular series, Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale, tells PEOPLE she hasn’t “talked to [Lefevere] yet.” “I don’t know anything about it other than a schedule conflict,” said Reed at the Express TXT L8TR Campaign party at Nobu in West Hollywood Wednesday night – the same day the news broke of the switch.
Summit Entertainment defended the decision Thursday to use Howard as the villainous vampire Victoria due to Lefevre’s commitment to the Dustin Hoffman film Barney’s Version, which is slated to film at the same time as Eclipse.
But one thing is for sure: No one will be replacing Pattinson as Edward Cullen, as fans are absolutely dedicated to the actor. Why does Reed think he’s got such a following? “Rob is sort of feminine looking and I think young girls like boys that look like women,” she said.
New Moon, the second film in the four part series, premieres Nov. 20.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson was hit by a taxi in New York as he tried to run away from a crowd of hysterical teenage fans, but he was not seriously injured, U.S. media reported.
Pattinson, 23, who stars in the hit teenage vampire movies, was clipped on the hip in front a bookstore in Manhattan where he was shooting scenes on Thursday for his new film, “Remember Me,” a drama about two young lovers dealing with family tragedies.
Flanked by five security guards, the British actor tried to run past a group of teenage girls who had gathered outside the bookstore and cross the street to his trailer when the accident happened.
He was not seriously injured, but his bodyguards reportedly were furious, according to RadarOnline.com which claimed to have witnessed the accident. One of the bodyguards yelled at the girls: “You see what you did, you almost killed him!”
Pattinson’s manager did not comment on the accident.
Pattinson has become one of the hottest properties in Hollywood since appearing in “Twilight” as brooding vampire Edward Cullen.
This week he was voted the world’s most handsome man by online readers of Vanity Fair.

Los Angeles (E! Online) – Robert Pattinson gives good lip service.
Kisses from the man himself were just auctioned off for oodles of money at the Cannes Film Festival.
Read on for all the kiss-and-tell details…
R.Pattz was a guest at tonight’s über-chic amfAR benefit, sitting at a table with Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (yes, Rob was in a D&G tux) and French Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld.
Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein joked from the stage that his daughters changed their last name to Pattinson after they saw Twilight. “Harvey then suggested auctioning off an opportunity for someone’s daughter to meet and get a kiss on the cheek from Pattinson,” a fellow partygoer says. “There were two bidders who paid 20,000 euros each for their daughters to have that kiss.”
In U.S. cash, that’s about $55,000!
“Harvey put him on the spot, in a playful way,” my source says. “And Rob agreed to it in his usual brooding, modest way.”
P.S.: The winning bidders were not the parents of Kristen Stewart or Nikki Reed.
Also at the annual AIDS benefit were former prez Bill Clinton, Sharon Stone, Josh Hartnett, Elizabeth Hurley and professional partyers Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt.

Pattinson and Stewart “Still Really Cool,” Says Twilight Director
Filed Under articles, news | Leave a Comment
Los Angeles (E! Online) – Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke remembers the exact moment she decided to say no to New Moon.
“I was in Paris with Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart] at dinner and talking to them and it was like, ‘Is this really the schedule? Would we really be starting 10 and half weeks from now?’ ” Hardwicke told me yesterday in Santa Monica at the launch event for her new book, Twilight: Director’s Notebook. “Yes, we would, for various reasons which I respect, but I really thought it would be better for somebody else, who hadn’t just been working every day for two years without a day off.”
But now, as New Moon filming gets underway in Vancouver with director Chris Weitz, does Hardwicke have any regrets? Read on to find out…
“I’m sad,” Hardwicke admitted. “But I would not want to let those people down…I was offered a very nice amount of money, plenty more than I have ever seen or my family has seen. But I wanted to do it only if I was going to make it better than Twilight.”
Hardwicke says she keeps in touch with Pattinson and Stewart and is happy to report that they haven’t changed much since she first met them. “It hasn’t gone to their heads,” she said. “They’re still really cool. They’ve got their family and friends who keep them grounded. It’s so cool.”
Hardwicke also confirmed reports that she’s reuniting with Summit Entertainment (the studio behind the Twilight movie franchise) to direct the adaptation of If I Stay, a young adult novel that doesn’t even come out until next month.
And earlier this week, it was announced that she’s attached to Maximum Ride from James Patterson’s book series about a group of kids who are 98 percent human and two percent bird.
Yes, another series with a nice big fan base. Sound familiar?
“I love when people are that excited and passionate about it,” she said. “When you do an indie film you’re just hoping somebody will go see the movie and you’re trying to stir it up with some excitement. The fact that there already is excitement is great.”

‘Just Good Friends’ States Kristen Stewart

In response to all the rumorsthat she and Rob are an item, KStew was quick to dispel that rumor stating that:
“It’s just totally false… Rob and I are good friends. We went through a lot together, so we feel very close. But if we go out in public, every little detail is scrutinized, like the way I stand next to him. And it’s like, I know this guy really fucking well [laughs]. It’s only natural that we’re sort of leaning on each other, because we’re put in the most fucking psychotic situations.”
